As an attorney dedicated to defending the indigent accused of a crime my idealism, romanticism, and unrelenting hope, usually controlled my personal life as well. Even though I joined the Navy after high school, lived overseas for nine years, obtained my undergrad in the UK and graduated law school in 2 1/2 years, I perpetually left my savvy in the courtroom to be goofy in love and hurt in the end. So, when my best friend suddenly told me I make her sad by being "so beautiful and yet such a sap" I snapped out of the lavender fog. She said having a man who is unemployed, constantly broke, "but very creative" doesn't make the love more "real". I read all the time and yet somehow have missed this seeingly novel philosophy. Duh. Therefore, I've been liberated to seek out a partner who is kind, attentive, thoughtful, considerate, intelligent, affectionate, and (I add "guilt free") loaded. One who will treat me as well as I treat him.
